Hard. That’s the word that best describes moving in the winter.
Today, Team Leading Edge has gathered a few pointers to help you get through it.
USE THE PROFESSIONALS
Time is of the essence; you should not waste your time bothering all your friends into to trying to help you carry all your furniture, from your old property to your new one. Instead, simply hire a moving company. These professionals know how to get things done in this harsh environment, while you can stay safe and sound inside your new home.
MONITOR THE WEATHER
Temperature shifts instantly in the winter, a drizzle of rain can change to ice in no time so it’s best to have salt ready. Shoving and salting the driveway can help the moving company do their work faster vs them walking through layers of snow.
Being an Edmontonian, you must be used to the cold weather by now but that doesn’t mean you’re immune to the dangers associated with winter. It’s still always best to be prepared.
Prepare an emergency pack with the following: snow brush, ice scraper to rid your car’s windshield of precipitation. Rock salt. Shovel. Canned food, water, first aid kit, power-bank for your mobile phone and some extra clothes and blankets.
DAMP/SOGGY BOXES MUST BE UNPACKED ASAP
A damp or soggy box can be the perfect environment for molds to grow so it is at your best interest to unpack all boxes immediately and check the items inside if they’re dry or wet.
Moving is hard but its not impossible. You’ve already made it out this far so now is not the time to give up! Cheer up and congratulations on your new home!
