A book may be compared to your neighbour: if it be good, it cannot last too long; if bad, you cannot get rid of it too early. - Rupert Brooke
Your Edmonton neighbour has the potential to be your life long friend or to be your worst enemy. If you ever find yourself in the bad side of the business, then this article is for you.
Today, we at Team Leading Edge would like to share with you a few simple ways on how to deal with the awful ones; the ones that get under your skin.
- MAKE YOUR PRESENCE FELT: If your neighbour doesn’t know you, he’ll be disregarded on purpose. He’ll keep doing the things that you hate. So the first and most important thing for you to do is to introduce yourself. It’s a simple trick to let your neighbour know that you are there. So, if he’d been listening to his music too loud, he’d now be conscious and lower down the volume.
- GO STRAIGHT TO THE POINT: Talk to your neighbour and be clear with your concern. This means you should get your confrontational face on. Your neighbour will keep on doing the things you hate if he doesn’t know that it really bothers you.
- SEEK ARBITRATION: When the first two options mentioned above don’t work, you may have no choice but to seek a third person that will negotiate an agreement between the two of you. The best candidate for this is a person that both of you knows. Take note, this will only work if your neighbour agrees on it, otherwise seeking arbitration will be pointless if he does not cooperate.
- UTILISE THE LAW: Worse comes to worst, you may need to ask for the help of the police. If the neighbour is being too loud, file a noise complaint. Try to check the rules and regulations of the homeowners association if you’re in a condo or the neighbourhood rules if you live in a subdivision. If he specifically violates any of the rules in there, you’ll have better chances of resolving your neighbour problem.
Don’t let unruly Edmonton neighbours ruin your life, you have to take action and put yourself in charge of the situation. Good luck!
